Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required. An associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field is preferred. Certification in code enforcement is beneficial. Preference will be given to applicants who are already a state mandated officer.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills:

• Understanding of property maintenance, zoning, and nuisance codes.
• Ability to interpret laws, policies, and procedures.
• Strong communication, customer service, and recordkeeping skills.
• Proficiency with computers and inspection documentation.
• Ability to work professionally with the public and partner agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct property inspections, document violations, and take photographs.
• Issue citations and coordinate with court staff; attend hearings as needed.
• Perform follow up inspections on court cases and provide updates.
• Respond to calls from fire, police, animal control, public works, and others.
• Research county codes and state statutes; maintain accurate case files.
• Provide clear information to residents and property owners while maintaining confidentiality.
• Prepare routine reports and presentations as assigned.

Work Environment:

Primarily field based with exposure to hazardous or unsafe conditions; PPE may be required.
