On Friday November 8, 2013, Heard County Emergency Services said farewell to Fire Chief Scott Blue with a reception in his honor.
Chief Blue has served Heard County as Fire Chief for the past 10 years and, for his exceptional service, was presented with the Speaking Trumpet Award by his, then, Deputy Chief Steve Wirth. Chief Blue goes on to be Carroll County's Fire Chief and Heard County wishes him all the best in his endeavors.
At this same reception, came a very special Change of Command Ceremony. Here, Deputy Chief Steve Wirth was promoted and sworn by Commission Chairman Lee Boone to the position of Fire Chief. Chairman Boone states "I am proud to announce the promotion of Deputy Chief Steve Wirth as the new Heard County Fire Chief and his appointment as Director of the Heard County Emergency Management Agency. He has served as Deputy Chief since May 3, 2009 and has proven himself as a leader and demonstrated his dedication to the profession."
"I feel very privileged to be taking over such a great agency and look forward to continuing the work started by Chief Blue" states Chief Wirth.
